Rented Villa at Kallepia

This is the villa we have been renting since our move to Cyprus on 7th June 2007. It has 3 bedrooms so we can put up friends, though 1 bedroom is being used as an office.

We have installed a satelite dish (3m diameter) to receive Sky Tv.

Kallepia is about 20 mins inland from Paphos and approx 600m elevation. The villa is right on top of a ridge and it gets quite windy up here. Could be chilly in the winter!

The villa is unfurnished so we had to make do for 6 weeks until our furniture arrived.

This is the open plan ground floor serving as the kitchen, lounge and dining room.

Nice balcony upstairs where Susie has chosen to live and the balcony at ground level which has become the dining area through the summer.

This is all our worldly possessions leaving South Hill, Alderholt on 5th June 2007

And this is the container arriving at Kallepia on 10th July. It could not back up this steep drive so had to park in the road.

I used my car to help transport some of the heavier boxes up the drive.

In the middle of unpacking.

A lot of items have remained in storage.

This is the view from the back fence and my office has a similar view. It is looking southeast towards the village and the troodos mountains which are beyond the distant hills.

I now have broadband (September 07) by satelite. A bit slow and many restrictions but at last I have rejoined the world.

Lemon tree. It has 6 fruits on it at present.

In Cyprus these fruit trees bear fruit 4 times each year.

We are at too high an elevation to grow bananas but should be able to grow oranges, lemons, peaches, apricots, tangerines, clementines, plums, figs, apples and pears.

We were honored to be asked to be Godparents to Yiotis, son of George and Edit. George is co owner of the development company building our house and we have become very good friends with him and Edit.

This is me in the church holding a candle next to Nasia, George's sister and Godmother, holding Yotis.

The storms over the last few days have brought snow to the Troodos mountains, which you can see in the distance.

Goodbye Kallepia, we are moving out today.

We have enjoyed our time here and have appreciated having a great landlord (Yiannis) who has become a good friend. However the winters were very cold in this house.
