2 January 2008
Trench dug to remove the water.
Earth has also fallen from sides of elevation and contaminated the space
for the next concrete.
Progress is painfully slow, it's like watching paint dry!!

17 January 2008
Back to square one.
They've had to remove all the shuttering, clean up the base, and start
again.
Contractors have been sacked for missing schedules, new ones start on
22nd January.

|
|
25 January 2008
New shuttering completed.
Concrete is due so it's been raining all day.

25 January 2008
This time though the rain has not stopped them.
Concrete being poured into basement walls, pillars and the patio retaining
wall.

25 January 2008
When this concrete has set the outside of the basement walls can be waterproofed
and then the basement can be back-filled and the ground levelled ready
for shuttering for the ground floor slab which is much larger than the
basement.

27 January 2008
It's a sunny Sunday and they are
removing the outer shuttering.
|
|

|
|
27 January 2008
Outer shuttering removed so that concrete can dry out prior to painting
and lining with bituman material to make it waterproof.
The earth can then be put back around the basement.

27 January 2008
It's such a nice sunny day in contrast to 2 days ago when the walls were
concreted. This picture taken from the roadside edge of the plot looking
west towards the sea.
You can follow this road all the way to the sea but a 4 wheel drive is
needed as it is definately an "off road" experience but good
fun!

30 January 2008
3 days later another contrast - the day after a snow storm !!
|
|
|

|
|
8 February 2008
Outside of walls starting to paint. Widening the gap around the basement
walls.
The wall nearest the camera is a retaining wall for the basement patio.

|
|

|
|
22 February 2008
Weather has again caused a weeks lost work (rain
stops play over here!!)
Almost finished the bituman felt sticking to walls.
|
|
|

|
|
22 February 2008
A large amount of stone hard core has been delivered (seen above). Not
sure if this is for back-filling the basement walls or as a base for the
ground floor slab which will be shuttered and reinforced once the back
filling is completed.
